Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they start the search of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
